Carob is very unknown among society, but over recent years a wide variety of uses have been encouraged thanks to the incredible properties contained within both its seeds and pod.
In 2019 a study by the Centre of Edafology and Applied Biology of Segura, part of the Spanish National Research Council (CEBAS-CSIC), considered carob to a superfood due to its great health benefits. “Carob is the only substance where it is possible to isolate D-pinitol in sufficient quantities for viable commercial exploitation”, explains the report.
Carob is considered to be a superfood due to D-pinitol, a highly valued component in the pods that has aroused the interest of the scientific community due to its multiple benefits.
